News Human Rights Day in South Africa To mark Human Rights Day in SA (21st March), Atlas organised a small rugby tournament which included a coach pep talk, motivational clips of Springbok RWC winners, training skills and some touch rugby to mark this important day on our calendar. Coach Frank reports…. We managed to go ahead under very difficult times for both communities. The resilience of the children who came in numbers excited us and gave us, as Coaches, strength. We had well over 50 children. Ethan brought 16 children from Ocean View while the rest of the children came from Masiphumelele. Coach Xolani played beautiful Videos of Makazole Mampimpi (2019 World Cup Springbok Winner and the first South African to Score a try in a world Cup Final). He also played Ashwin Willemse (World Cup Winner with the Springboks in 2007) a great player too, both videos highlighted their stories which both communities of kids can relate to, one born in gangsterism and the other born in poverty, but both of them overcame. We saw wonderful joy from the kids and children who want to get back on the field again and play some rugby. They wanted more. All of us enjoyed the moment and are grateful of doing this work. It has been a blessing and the children that we work with are a great pillar of this journey. Manage Cookie Preferences
