How we help

Atlas Asia was set up to continue the work of The Nicholson Memorial Fund. The Nicholson Memorial Fund was set up by Ben Nicholson in memory of his wife Anita and their two children Alex and Annabel who tragically lost their lives in the Sri Lanka bombings on Easter Sunday 2019. Anita was a hugely popular member of the Atlas Foundation family. She set up and ran our first ever fundraising dinner with a Halloween themed event at the Singapore Cricket Club on 31st October 2018 with Jason Leonard there to promote Atlas's work in the Far East, raising over £20,000. We remain eternally grateful to her and are all devastated to have lost her.

Ben says that in addition to Anita's role with Atlas, rugby has been a significant and important part of their family life, driven in particular by Alex and Annabel's love of the game. He has been working with Atlas to create a fitting memorial to all three, with Atlas contributing £20,000 to open the fund, but the cause has touched the heart of so many across the globe that it has received more support than we could have ever anticipated. The Atlas message and the Memorial Fund’s name has been spread far and wide and really embraced by the wider rugby community as well as the local Singapore community.

Our Work

Atlas Asia and the Anita, Alex and Annabel Nicholson Memorial Fund support many of Atlas's projects in Asia as well as developing partnerships and funds of their own.

Empowering young people at the Urban Rugby Championships!

Over 230 kids from minority and under-resourced communities across America came together for the 2024 Urban Rugby Championships in Washington DC. The URC is an incredible opportunity for these kids and shows the transformative impact rugby has in empowering and inspiring disadvantaged young people!

Atlas South Africa

Atlas South Africa was founded in 2018 after a successful Atlas Trek to Botswana and Zimbabwe, attended by South African Rugby Champions. Since then, six projects across 3 southern African countries have guided 49,437 children through education, mentoring, health, and employment opportunities for their future.
Atlas USA

In 2017 a charity golf day at the Las Vegas Sevens raised funds for Atlas to support disadvantaged children in the USA. In 2019 a Board came together to establish this legally as a branch of Atlas focussed on helping children across the Americas. In February 2020 Atlas USA was legally recognised and registered as a 501c3
Atlas France

Atlas France a été créé pour aider les enfants de toute la francophonie grâce au rugby. Atlas et des Champions Français et Internationaux de rugby en France sont en train de mettre en place un solide programme d'éducation et d'assistance sociale pour certains des enfants les plus pauvres de la planète.

The Richmond Heavies Foundation are organising A Series Of Extraordinary Events around the world, which include extraordinary superhuman challenges as well as achievable social activities, allowing all to get involved. All monies raised will go to the Richmond Heavies Foundation, which was founded after Richmond Rugby lost 3 very special friends, far too early.
Ed Cooper Memorial Fund

Ed was a big personality who lived life to the full, was loved dearly by his family and friends, and is missed hugely by all who knew him. He was a talented sportsman who enjoyed playing both codes of rugby and cricket. Following Ed’s death in 2016, this Memorial Fund was established to honour his memory.
