Nyumbani Village offers education, support and shelter to 1000 children orphaned or otherwise affected by HIV and aids.

Nyumbani Village has recently established a boy’s rugby team but does not have any provision to support girls who want to play. Whilst the boys are coached a vast number of girls look on in interest, keen to get involved but not sure how. Thanks to Maggie Alphonsi and the ATLAS Foundation, funding is now found for a small project to develop over three years. This could be bigger with more funding, but ATLAS has ensured that it can start and is supported by qualified coaches.

Team Talk - Kenya

In rural Kenya there is little gender parity in primary education and many fewer girls access secondary education. In 2011 many girls in this region were leaving primary school early to be married or after becoming pregnant. Team Talk takes a fresh approach by using TAG rugby alongside classroom sessions to address gender equality in rural Kenyan schools.
South Coast Pirates - Kenya

The south coast of Kenya may have famous tourist beaches but the problems encountered in the coastal slums of Ukunda match anything in other large urban centres. There are big issues around unemployment, drugs and sex tourism. Our academy programme reaches out to youth to use sport as a foundation for self awareness and respect as well as to create good role models.

TRT Hub opening

On Friday 24th May the TRT Hub was opened in Harare Zimbabwe to provide dedicated facilities for the girls whose work on empowerment through rugby Atlas has been proud to fund. Atlas has also contributed to the construction costs and is delighted to see such a valuable resource open and supporting its community.

Simon Shaw amazes kids in Kenya

The kids we work with in Kenya are lucky to be alive, 50% die before they’re 5. Those that survive are delightfully cheeky but undernourished and tiny for their ages. Welcome Simon Shaw, ex second row, and 6’8”. The first questions from the kids: “what does he eat?” And “why is he so hairy?” Despite making them look like Lilliputians, Shawsey was awesome with them. Ed Cooper Memorial Fund

Ed was a big personality who lived life to the full, was loved dearly by his family and friends, and is missed hugely by all who knew him. He was a talented sportsman who enjoyed playing both codes of rugby and cricket. Following Ed’s death in 2016, this Memorial Fund was established to honour his memory.
Atlas South Africa

Atlas South Africa was founded in 2018 after a successful Atlas Trek to Botswana and Zimbabwe attended by South African Rugby Champions. Since then two successful rides in the Cape Town Cycling Tour as well as six thriving projects have made a fantastic start for Atlas South Africa.
