In Feb 2018 we lost one of SURFC rugby sons. I will never forget the day i received the message from the S&C Coach from Oxford Uni RFC. I was sitting in Square Peg having a coffee and doing some work when i took the sad news. I hadn't spoken to Saf for a while but had tracked his successful rugby career over the last few years.

I had had the pleasure of playing with him for a few years in University which were the best times of my rugby career. Playing with your mates every Wed all over the country was something very special. The highs and lows the nights out and the hangovers all contributed to a great experience of University Rugby. The highs for us came in winning Varsity in 2010 & 2011 at the Principality Stadium.

I would often see Saff on a Wed & Sat night at Peppermint and he would often tell me about his trials and tribulations with his two loves in life..... Rugby & Women! He was a very sociable guy and fitted in wherever he went. When he passed away i had a number of messages from people in Swansea who i didn't think even knew of Saf let alone had met him and had a pint with him! It was a true testament to the guy of his kind, caring generous personality that touches so many people in Swansea and further afield.

I will be looking to raise money for this cause via a number of fitness events and competitions! Through my fitness business Titan Strength & Conditioning we have and will continue to run charity classes. I have also set myself a number of events and comps to complete these include everything from a half marathon to the Ironman in Sept 2021!

I would like to raise this money to help fund the heart screening for youngsters and University students. We are currently in talks with Saffa's family and the Uni to see what we can achieve going forward. I will be using Titan as a platform to help raise awareness. Saffa was an attendee of the class back when we started 2013.

Rest up big man and thank you for the fond memories! I do have my top on a little bit more these days! Gareth Beer
