Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

I’m running the London Marathon on April 23rd 2023. This is my first marathon and I’m really pleased that I’ve secured a place in the world’s greatest one! In a previous life I would have been out on the wing of a rugby pitch, so running for 26.2miles is a strange concept for me.

I’m raising money for a couple of organisations;

Richmond Rugby Club Heavies Foundation (RHF) – I’ve been a member of the rugby club for 20 years and still take to the field with the Heavies (veterans) when I can. It’s a club that is close to my heart. The Richmond Heavies Foundation was borne out of the unconnected premature deaths of three amazing guys closely connected to the Heavies within six weeks of each other in 2018.

The foundation aims to protect players, coaches, referees and families through cardiac screening and mental health services and support in the event of sudden death or life changing injuries.

Additionally, the RHF Defibrillator Fund has been set up to provide defibrillators to community rugby clubs who cannot afford this life-saving device. I aim to raise funds for rugby clubs to apply for these life saving devices.

I’m also running to raise funds for mental health charity, MIND.
The conversation around mental health and wellbeing is so important. Notably suicide is the biggest cause of death in men under the age of 50 and around three quarters of deaths from suicides each year. Mind do brilliant work to support everyone struggling with their mental health.

I know that we are currently living in challenging economic times so any donation is hugely appreciated. Please donate as little or as much as you are able to. Equally, just your support will help motivate me on those long and lonely runs. Thank you. Tom Stokes
