Mandela Day in South Africa marks the birthday of Nelson Mandela and is celebrated every year on the 18th July. It marks a time to inspire change and give back to local communities, taking action and extending a hand to those around you today.

The team at Ocean View High School have spent the day cleaning up the community’s church, sweeping up the rubbish and removing bits of litter around the back. The children offered their last day of school holidays to helping the cause, demonstrating the importance of taking pride in their community and dignity for a cleaner church. The wonderful children also extended a hand to the elderly and their neighbours, sharing coffee and muffins between them. It shows that even though they may be from different generations, the act of kindness and reward of giving back has no boundaries.
