Shawsey, a giant in Kenya

The kids we work with in Kenya are lucky to be alive, 50% die before they’re 5. Those that survive are delightfully cheeky but undernourished and tiny for their ages.

Welcome Simon Shaw, ex second row, and 6’8”. The first questions from the kids: “what does he eat?” And “why is he so hairy?”

Despite making them look like Lilliputians, Shawsey was awesome with them.

Simon was born in Nairobi and lived there until he was ten. He has not been back since. Meeting the kids and seeing their lives at home and on the rugby pitch was emotional for him.
