News Welcome Abbey Marchington! Welcome Abbey Marchington! As last year’s Marketing and Communications Officer, Antonia, returns back to University for her final year of studies, she passes the baton to incoming intern Abbey Marchington, also from the University of Bath, on placement from her BSc Politics and International Relations studies. Abbey has grown up watching rugby in and around the clubhouse and has previously enjoyed work experience at Premiership side Sale Sharks. But more than rugby, Abbey has a real passion for politics, particularly enacting meaningful change that has real and tangible effects of the lives of people everywhere. This passion has previously taken her to the UN and UNICEF Headquarters in Geneva as well as Russia and Washington D.C. Abbey says her goals for the next year are all about finding new and exciting projects that Atlas can support, which will be especially important as the world comes out of the pandemic. More than this, with experience in events, Abbey would like to ensure there are lots of in-person fundraising events to make up for ones lost over the last year and a half. She says she cannot wait to be a part of a charity “that truly demonstrates the transformative power of sport, rugby in particular”. We can’t wait to have her passion and drive either. “We are really looking forward to the coming year working with Abbey. We can’t wait to see her grow and develop with the charity and have no doubt her positive energy will drive us forward and help us support more projects internationally.” - Jason Leonard, OBE.
